115 John Lewis reviews average 4.9, one of the highest scores on the site. It’s suitable from age 4.
We didn’t find a pattern of complaints in the reviews we could read, so the drawbacks above are facts about the set. It’s a tub of bricks with ideas for a few models, not a kit with one finished result. Some children love that, and some find it less exciting than a themed set.
It’s a good choice when you don’t know which LEGO themes a child likes, or as a first big box that later sets can add to. John Lewis was out of stock online when we checked, so Amazon is the link for now.
What reviewers praise
- Lots of bricks for the money
- Comes in a box that doubles as storage
- Windows, doors, wheels and eyes make it more than plain bricks
What they complain about
- Only a handful of models come with instructions
- Out of stock online at John Lewis when we checked
- Not for
- A child who only likes building the model on the box. This is for free building, not a set with a finished result.
